Extraction of lower wisdom tooth

Hi I’ve been having infections in my lower left wisdom tooth the dentist has advised having it removed . I stupidly googled it and have scared myself to death it mentions possible nerve damage , removal of bone and lip numbness . I had an upper wisdom tooth removed years ago no probs but I’ve heard lower ones are tricky
Someone please put my mind at ease

You've posted in children's health, maybe you should report your post and ask for it to be moved Smile

But in terms of your wisdom teeth question, I just had all of mine removed, once you've had your consultation they can tell you how high a risk you have, depending on your nerve positions etc. I was told mine were very low risk, and I've had no problems. I think nerve damage is very rare, especially long term damage, which is even rarer. Why not go along to your consultation when it comes about, and go from there!

It won't be for a while anyway if it's NHS, took me 10 months from seeing my dentist until removal of final tooth. I had them removed while awake under local anaesthetic, such was my risk level (very low!). I had a choice between that and general.

I've had loads of problems with an impacted lower wisdom tooth. Full on chipmunk face infections, horrific. Very hard to extract and risky. They took out the wisdom tooth on upper jaw which was aggravating it and that has really helped. Good luck.

I realised I’d accidently posted in the wrong place after I’d sent it . Thankyou so much for your replies the dentist said he’d remove it in a couple of weeks he didn’t say much else I’ve just got myself in a state googling
I think I’ll have to express my concerns when I go the tooth is giving me pain in my ear now :(
