DD 5 has been poorly for 3 days with a high temperature and diarrhea. Shes’s been complaining lots about tummy pain - so bad one night she ended up being seen by out of hours to rule out appendicitis.

She was better last night and we thought we were on the home straight but she has woken this morning with worse stomach pain and has started vomiting. (Can’t keep water or calpol down - there is nothing else in her system!) She’s managing to sit on the sofa and watch TV/ walk to the bathroom etc so not curled in heap like she was the other night. Do we need to get her seen again?

Could you do a telphone appointment and request a stool sample kit .
That sounds awful for her.
Sounds like my teenage ds a month back it was salmonella.

It doesn't sound like a standard tummy bug to be honest. I would speak to the GP again.

Agree with pp that the order of the symptoms is not standard for a tummy bug as the vomiting is usually within the first 24hrs not after 3 days of diarreah. Has she ate much during the past 3 days? And has she kept water down the rest of today since your post?

Thanks for your help. We went back to giving ice cubes for a bit and after a few hours and a long sleep she has bounced back. We were planning to phone for an afternoon appointment but it wasn’t needed in the end. We’ve put it down to her reacting to water on an empty stomach.

All back in business today thank goodness!
