13 month old baby with a severe cough that no-one can get to the bottom of. Baby had an X-ray last Monday and today we got a letter saying they see a grey shadow on the lung where it should be black. They don’t think it’s connected to the cough. We have an appointment at the end of August to get the results. I’m actually worried about posting in case it something serious. Anyone been through anything similar.

Absolutely. Especially with such a young child. It may be they just want to monitor how Thanks

(Sorry posted too soon)

*your babies progress and keep an eye out for asthma in the future (they won't diagnose asthma at this age)- this is just a guess though.

*your baby progresses.

Apologies for the terrible grammar in my replies Blush

My ds had a cough that just wouldn't stop, starting when he was 6 months old. Had antibiotics, inhalers, all sorts and it didn't stop. Eventually he had an x ray and there was an area of collapsed lung - basically his mucus had plugged up an area and it was infected behind. He had 6 weeks of antibiotics, chest physio 5 times a day, and different inhalers regularly and some tests to see whether anything else was going on. The cough cleared up, and though he was very prone to chest infections after (and eventually was prescribed medication to thin the mucus which he needed in the winter till he was 6) there was nothing else going on.
It was really scary at the time, but once he'd had the x ray they did move on quickly

Thankyou for taking time to answer. She has an inhaler now, CMOTD your sons symptoms sound like ours so hopefully it’s something that will clear up. The cough started at six months also and there is so much mucus, she is too young to clear it.
