Hand, foot and mouth - fifth time!

My two year old has just come out with the tell-tale HF and M blisters for the fifth time this year. I don’t understand why he seems so susceptible!
Should I take him to my gp to get checked out? Or as it’s viral, is this just how a virus presents itself in my son now? I try to keep my home clean and tidy - he couldn’t keep picking it up from something in the house could he?
He’s not too poorly this time, no temp or anything, but most of the two yr olds I know have never even had HF and M, let alone five times! Has anyone experienced anything similar?

Does he go to nursery or a lot of soft play type places? These are the type of places where viruses spread like wildfire, it's unlikely he is catching it from your home unless someone else at home has it too like an older sibling? My ds has had it twice in his life and he's 4 so 5 times in 2yrs does seem to be quite extreme. Theres not much the gp can do treatment wise but it might be an idea to take him anyway for an official diagnosis and for it to go on his medical record so that it this keeps occurring you can go back and ask for him to be referred to a paediatrician who may be able to investigate it further.

He goes to a childminder twice a week but we don’t go to soft play very much. He does also have a 5 yr old brother who’s never had it! (To my knowledge).
I’ll probably do like you say and go and see the gp for advice. I know it’s viral so they can’t give me anything but this is ridiculous!

Have you asked the childminder if any other of her kids have had it recently? And does he catch other viral stuff easily or just this? Hopefully the gp will be able to advise.
