Insect bites - very itchy

DD is 9, and every summer she seems to get loads of horrid, itchy insect bites (none of the rest of the family does).

She's got about 15 at the moment Sad

We're going to Spain in 2 weeks, and I'm worried this will ruin it for her.

She's being amazing about not scratching (though the effort is making her cry). I've just given her antihistamines, which has helped a bit, and am putting 1% hydrocortisone on her.

I really don't want to use DEET if at all possible.

Apart from the usual advice about clothes which cover up in the evenings, etc., does anyone have any tips? Either for treating the bites now or for preventing more in Spain?

Many thanks in advance.

I'm sorry but I think you need insect repellent and DEET works best

Also stock up on antihistamines

Thanks @dementedpixie, you're probably right about DEET... perhaps I'm silly to avoid it as I know it's probably fine.

Avon skin so soft is brilliant at repelling insects I find
