Conjunctivitis in 5mo

I think my DD (5 months) has conjunctivitis. She has a bit of a gunky eye and it's a little red all around. I called GP due to her age but they weren't that interested and told me to look online Grin

I've been cleaning it with water and have also put a bit of breast milk onto it as that seems to solve all manner of ailments. Anything else I should/could be doing?

Could it be making her feel poorly? She's been quite irritable today and she was up most of the night, which is quite unlike her. Wondering if it's worth giving Calpol or Ibuprofen.

Definitely carry on with the breast milk in the eye. Just make sure your hands and boob is clean first and try squirting it in directly. Yes I would imagine it’s making her miserable. A little calpol probably wouldn’t hurt but I wouldn’t over do it unless she really needs the stuff. Plenty of breastfeeds will probably be more comforting than calpol.
My DD has it around 6 months, it took ages to shift and wish I’d tried breast milk as we were breastfeeding. The drops the dr gave me were a nightmare to administer and it took around 3 weeks to shift. Good luck

Thanks, hopefully it goes away soon! It's her first illness so I suppose we haven't done too badly.
