HGH results? Confused!

My nephew just underwent some Growth hormone testing recently. He is really very small for his age, around 115cm and is 8 years old. The Dr said he scored an 11mg in his test results and anything 10mg and under is the marker for HGH. My SIL hasn’t got any other explanation such as what is average score expected for the average 8 year old, or given that 11mg is on the cusp it seems that he’s only just produced enough on the day of testing.... it’s just doesn’t seem like a significant amount over the “cut off”. The doctor was reluctant to discuss anything else with us other than results, she wasn’t the endocrinologist and keeps fobbing off a referral.
I should add he is a super bright boy, but is so significantly smaller than his peers he physically can’t keep up and this is really bothering him. Any help or shared knowledge would be appreciated xx
