Anybody had a child with problems around their larynx? Breathing issues caused by it??

Do you mean laryngomalacia (floppy larynx?) I'm a paediatric nurse on an ENT ward. We see it a lot.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2019 23:15

Can be caused by reflux. Most kids grow out of it.

Thanks for replying.
Dd has induced laryngeal obstruction. It slams shut and she can’t speak or breath. There’s no support out there. Would just be good to speak to someone.

I've not heard of that in 14 years of working on this ward. Sorry I can't be of any help. What treatment is she having?

Flossie44 · 30/06/2019 23:38

She’s at gosh. First line is SALT

She uses adrenaline nebulisers when it shuts. (About 3 times a week)

That must be terrifying for her and for you.

It’s hideous. Really isolating. It happened today at school, resulting in ambulance. They call 999 several times a week. I’m
Emotionally wrecked. Just need someone to talk to
