My 3rd old has hfm (happened to see a doc who confirmed it!).
Just want to know roughly how long it lasts? How long does fever last?
My lb got spots on weds morning and temp yesterday afternoon which is still going. Doesn't have loads of blisters and I've only seen 2 or 3 in his mouth but the fever is the biggest problem!

Really depends. My 2 had it about 18 months ago I think. My older child suffered worst with it, with itching on his legs, he really couldn't settle and had a very high temp. The younger one wasn't even 1 but didn't have it anywhere near as bad. Younger one maybe 3 days, older 1 a week (of itching and temp).

I think it’s quite variable. My DS has had it more than once and some episodes were a few days and he wasn’t too poorly. Worse one when he was still under a year old we had a week long nursing strike and I was using a Calpol syringe to get fluid into him. I don’t remember a high temp persisting for more than a day or two. I believe there are lots of strains of this type of virus, I hope your LO is better soon.

I seem to remember when DS had it at 18 months, he had 5 days of being pretty rough (ended up in hospital as spots stopped blanching and suspected meningitis).

He did have tonsillitis at the same time though, poor mite.

Lots of fluids, and calamine can help if it’s itchy.

Hello, my little one came down with this on Friday . High temp started Friday lunch time and was gone by sat lunch. Ulcers in mouth appeared yesterday and over night and rash this morning. Can I ask how long rash keeps coming out for? Worried as I have my mum's funeral on Thursday

Thankfully son is okay now. Started coming out in blisters on weds and got some Thurs. Thurs, Fri and Sat morning temperature was high, no real sleep from fever, was sick and now nearly back to normal thankfully. Hasn't been bad with blisters thankfully!
Been nasty poor boy, temp was the worst.

HFM is a really unpleasant little virus, my Ds had it at about 18 months old and he was so unwell, much worse than with chicken pox . It lasts a long time too as the symptoms work through them, so don't be surprised if you have a few weeks of seemingly unrelated virus type things (eg sore throats etc) and eventually all the skin will peel off their hands and feet, and toenails and fingernails can drop out. And oddly, some kids get no bad symptoms at all. We used anbesol liquid in his mouth on the sores, and calpol, but it was really grim.

(I wish someone had warned me about the nails!!)
