Hello, My son of 4 months has been struggling with his tummy for sometime now and it's getting worse. He goes 3 days at a time without pooing and is in so much pain all the time. We've tried a few different comfort formulas and not had any succuss. Doctors and health visitor haven't been great either.
I'm thinking to maybe try a normal formula and maybe some kind of aid to help him poo. We tried gripe water and infacol and neither helped.
I'm starting to get really upset for my son now because whatever I try, it isn't helping. If anything, he's only getting worse.
I'm desperate for ideas... Please help.....

I take it he has not started solids? I think it's uncommon in babies before weaning

Have they never suggested lactulose? What is the poo like when it arrives? Hard or soft?

LaurenSarah22 · 10/06/2019 17:09

Infacol and colic aren't for constipation. Try changing the milk to SMA comfort, its known to help relieve constipation

OP said she tried comfort formula

EuromumAussiekid · 10/06/2019 18:32

The op has vanished

I've tried lactulose and he's on sma comfort now. Neither seems to help. Tried a couple of different comfort formulas.
I'm running out of ideas... and patience! 😢

How long was he on lactulose? Is the poo soft?

Soubriquet · 10/06/2019 18:49

The only thing I’ve found that works is cooled boiled water.

Making sure they drink enough water as it can affect constipation

It is soft poo, but he's still in pain constantly and struggles to go.
He's been on lactulose for just over a week. We also tried cooled boiled water. Nothing seems to be working.

If the doctors are not helping, take baby to a&e

If it's soft then it doesn't sound like constipation. Maybe another reason for the pain
