Siblings catching chicken pox

Hi guys
So ds1 has chicken pox since Tuesday, his pore soles of his feet are covered bless him. I’m just wanting advice as to when Ds2 will catch it.

Incubation period is upto 21 days.

Zebrasinpyjamas · 02/06/2019 18:57

For me (and my son's friends who all got it at the same time) the younger sibling got it 2 wks to the day later. The siblings got it worse too. Sad

stoplickingthetelly · 02/06/2019 18:58

Dad got it exactly 3 weeks after ds. I’ve never known siblings to escape it.

lsm160784 · 02/06/2019 19:12

I hope he doesn’t get it worse his only 19 months, and it’s been hard with a 7 year old who understands.

DS2 got it two weeks to the day after DS1. He wasn't too unwell, but he was worse than DS1, and much more spotty. He was about 14 months when he got it.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 02/06/2019 19:19

With my older 3 dc there were 14 days between each. Dc4(4) (who was a baby during our last outbreak & didn’t catch it) came out in spots 10 days ago, so if Dc5(22months) is going to catch it I expect him to come out in them on Thursday but I’ll be on the look out until the Thursday after as that’ll be day 21.

Your dc2 might not catch it though, including our older 3 dc4 had been exposed 8 times before finally catching it. This is dc5’s 5 exposure.

Fatted · 02/06/2019 19:19

It was about 7-10 days between my two coming out in spots. DS2 had it first, but DS1 had it much, much worse!

Whycantistaymotivated · 02/06/2019 19:21

DD was 10 weeks old. She caught them 2 weeks after DSS2. She had them mild compared to DSS2

lsm160784 · 02/06/2019 20:48

Oh guys your giving me hope 😬 its so horrible seeing your children suffer, tbh I’m not sure when ds1 got them because he had stayed at his nans for two days and came back at night asleep so his dad put him straight to bed but by Wednesday morning he was covered and had a few scabs 😱

OP posts:
BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 03/06/2019 22:40

Hmm, if some had started to scab I’d think possibly Monday for when they started (that’s just based on my own dc, not actual evidence).

I’m tied between wanting Dc5 to have it to just get it over & done with but also not liking the restrictions it brings when they have it. I’m also not immune so there’s always the possibility I’ll get it too.

Oliack1417 · 03/06/2019 22:44

12 days for us. Poor little one got a far worse dose than his big brother.

lsm160784 · 06/06/2019 16:07

Did your little one end up coming out in spots yet 🙈 No sign of spots with Ds2 here yet

KipperTheFrog · 06/06/2019 16:11

We've just been through this. DD1 came out in spots exactly 2 weeks after DD2 started with spots. DD2 suffered less than DD1 did, even though shes younger.

Untamedtoad · 06/06/2019 16:13

Everyone I know with 2 children, the 2nd has come out in spots exactly 2 weeks after the 1st child. X

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 07/06/2019 14:27

15 days & still no spots on Dc5. I’m now counting down to next Thursday when we’ll be in the clear. Hopefully you’ll escape too, although that does mean we’ll have to do it all again eventually!

SharesinClarks · 07/06/2019 14:33

My youngest got chickenpox but my eldest did not. He was kissing and cuddling him but nothing appeared and my youngest had it really badly.

tappitytaptap · 07/06/2019 15:38

Ditto most posters, 2 weeks to the day which was common amongst my friends too. DS1 barely noticed he had them, DS2 was covered, again this seemed common amongst friends.

CalvinJohn · 08/06/2019 14:31

My brother got it about 2 days after me as the girl who had chicken.pox still sent them to us. So really he got it off her. My mother was not impressed.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 09/06/2019 11:36

Day 17 & Dc5 has just started getting spots.

lsm160784 · 09/06/2019 12:51

Oh no 🙈 hopefully won’t be too bad 🤞mine is still not showing spots🙈

Bythebeach · 09/06/2019 13:14

2 weeks to the day when my younger two had it

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 09/06/2019 22:11

I know, he was so close to escaping it Grin I hope you manage to avoid them!!

WallisFrizz · 09/06/2019 22:13

Spots appeared exactly 2 weeks apart.
