Freckle on lip ??

Hi all

I have taken my 12 year old to the dentist today, regular check up.

Around 5/6 weeks ago a spot appeared on his lip which looked like either a tiny blood blister but then when it didn't go I thought maybe a mole or freckle. The dentist has seen it today and has referred us to a dental hospital.

Has anyone's child had this? I'm panicking now that it's something sinister and also feeling bad for not getting it checked out sooner. I have had a quick google but frightened myself to death Sad

They have done a 2 week referral as well but did reassure me it's probably nothing?

New freckles and moles often appear in children so chances are that's all it is. The wait will be awful but at least he will get seen soon and you will hopefully be reassured.

I've had a fairly noticeable freckle on my bottom lip for yrs, since childhood. It gets darker as I get older, but it's just a freckle. I dont understand why you've been referred to a hospital for a freckles???

Not the clearest photo, but this has been on my lip for as long as I can remember. Had no issues with it, just like I've had no issues with any of the other freckles on my body. No doctor or dentist has ever even taken any notice of it.

My ds has a few blood looking blisters appear on his lip when he was about 10. They were there for a while and the doctor referred him for laser treatment to get rid of them.

After the first few zaps the consultant asked ds if he was ok and ds started crying so treatment was stopped. It looked worse than ever but within a few days had disappeared.

Mine appeared when I was about 12.

It seems to be just a freckle in a weird place although, seeing as I've got millions of the things, maybe not so weird after all

I had one on my lower lip, just a small freckle, appeared in my teens, sometimes people would think I had ink on my lip. I used to worry it might become a thing but has more or less faded away to nothing now.

I'm saying freckle as that what it looks like but I'm not sure it is that and neither were the dentists hence the referral I guess? Thankyou for the replies, I'm quite freckley/moley and so is all my family but I've never known anyone have one on their lip, glad to know there are others and hopefully it will be nothing
