Immunity from chickenpox

I've heard from a couple of people IRL that children who get chickenpox under age one don't develop immunity to it. DD is 11 months and is on the mend from it - is she likely to get it again? Asking because if she is I'll get her vaccinated.

It's either that or they have a higher chance of childhood shingles. Ds had CP at nearly 6 months and shingles age 3

Darn it. There is a shingles vaccine I think but I'm not sure if it's indicated for use in children.

No it isn't meant for children. I would just assume immunity tbh and not worry about it further

For what it’s worth both of mine had chicken pox under 1yo, at 8mo and 11mo, and then had it again at 3yo.

FWIW Dd1 got it at 2 and again much worse at 8. Having it twice really isn't uncommon.

I didn’t know that about shingles- DD2 had very mild chickenpox at 1 and since then has had shingles twice- the first time I thought they were a line of bites until they eventually scabbed over in the classic chicken pox way. I actually feel better as I was worried her immune system was low as shingles is unusual in kids. Does anyone know if she is going to be prone to shingles all her life?

Ds has still only had shingles once at age 3 and is now 12

Dd2 had it at 6 months and hasn't had it again despite being in close contact on many occasions.

I otoh didn't catch it growing up despite many friends and my sister having it. I thought I was naturally immune. No, I caught it aged 20yo at university and literally no one else had it so goodness knows where I caught it from.

Ive heard that too but I actually don't know anyone it happened to I was prem and got them as a baby I never had them since and have been around them ALOT I did get shingles though
