Permanent teeth refusing to erupt

DS (7) lost his upper incisors about a year ago. The permanent ones are not coming out. I am taking him to see an orthodontist next week but wondered if anyone else had a similar experience? What did the dentist or orthodontist do? I have attached an X Ray taken shortly before his baby teeth fell out and this shows that that the permanent teeth are definitely there.

Why did he have the x-ray taken?

There looks a fair amount of root on those baby teeth, maybe they just came out a bit early? 7 isn't late for them to erupt

The orthodontist will want to look at if there is space, if anything is stopping eruption. Their management will depend on what they think the cause is, they might want to take another xray

BlueCornishPixie, thank you for your reply. The dentist took the X-Ray because one of the primary teeth had a pinkish tinge shortly before it fell out.
I know 7.5 years of age is young for permanent teeth but I am still concerned as we have been waiting for so long for his permanent teeth to erupt.
