Slapped cheek syndrome

My five year old was diagnosed with slapped cheek syndrome yesterday by our GP.
He had severe vomiting all day Thursday, and yesterday had high fever and the rash appeared.
He has a lot of abdominal pains and cramps today, he is crying with pain, despite having calpol and neurofen. Temperature is under control.

Is this part of the virus or should I get back to doctor?

Have no experience of this before and any information described it as a minor illness and that child might not display any symptoms apart from rash.

The diagnosis puzzles me a little. Usually the rash on the cheeks only appears 7-10 days after the symptoms. Vomiting is a very unusual symptom, unless your child has a hemolytic anemia. A blood test is used to confirm diagnosis. You posted a few days ago. I hope your DS is feeling better by the time you read this!
