My little girl has just recently been diagnosed with gallstones after an mrcp and ultrasound. The consultants shes under are going to have a discussion about whether it would be worthwhile to remove it as well as her spleen due to a blood dissorder. Has anyone ever had either removed ? How long did it take etc ?

Does your DD have Hereditary Spherocytosis? My DS had both his spleen and gallbladder removed. What does your DD's haematologist recommend? 5 years of age is young for a splenectomy and I am assuming your DD suffers from the severe form? Is she transfusion dependent? Does she have regular gallbladder attacks? If indeed your DD has HS, then I really recommend you join the Facebook group "hereditary spherocytosis". It's a closed group - very informative, supportive and helpful.
