Cut lip - will it scar?

My 21 month old toddler fell and cut his lip at the weekend. A&E described it as superficial but gaping and it crosses the lip line so they stitched it. Is it going to scar him? Does anyone have any experience of this?

It's very unlikely to scar at that age if it is superficial. The stitch will help ensure the lip line stays lined up so reduces scarring.

There may be a very tiny scar left but the chances of it being obvious are very low.

Thank you so much! The consultant was great but none of them would commit to an answer about scaring. Is that their policy do you think? I guess they cant in case it does?
