Glue ear at 7?

My DS2 (7) has had ear ache on and off for months. GP said glue ear, then at a follow up said it has cleared, but the periodic ear ache continues. I thought 7 was quite late to develop issues (symptoms been since he was 6).

Any one have any experiences of this?

My son whos nearly 7 has just had to have grommets in place as he suffers glue ear, could you not ask to see a specialist or maybe a different doctor for a second opinion
