Hi all
Seen the doctor today and mentioned DD 4 for a few night has woken up needing a wee and having water 3 times a night which is very unusual. They done a finger prick blood sugar test which was 4.4 and a urine sample which was clear. A nurse completed the tests but didn't give any indication of what it meant. Does this all sound normal result wise with the blood sugar ?

I am not an expert but if they suspected type 1 diabetes you wouldn't have been sent home without insulin etc. I believe 4.4 is in the normal range. Really thirsty, weight loss are other signs of diabetes. I think type 2 is very rare in children.

Sorry not much help, I am sure someone more knowledgeable will be along soon.

Thanks for the reply. Yes that is what I thought too.

That's good that they performed the correct test there and then. Yes, 4.4 mmol is towards the lower side of normal range (a good thing)
