Penis blowing up like a bubble when peeing?

DS2 is 12 and half. Not the most mature pre-teen. Yesterday told me his penis is weird when urinatibg; I had a look and indeed it's weird! As he sees, penis inflates like a big bubble. No pain, no blood, nothing else. The bubble goes down as soon as weeing stops. Don't remember older DS having this. Anyone seen similar? With no pain/smell/discharge I'm not thinking it's an infection. Any thoughts?

I’d go to the Dr.

My son had this - it's caused by too small a hole at the tip of the foreskin. Can't remember the term used by our GP. He was referred to paediatrics and had a "dorsal circumcision", basically a small incision in the foreskin that increased the opening, but did not remove the foreskin. It was a 10 minute surgery that he recovered from quickly.

You need to see GP, but it's not a big deal. They try and stretch it with creams first.

I agree with pp, it sounds like phimosis. I’d go to the GP to find out what’s causing it and to make sure it won’t cause problems in the future.

My son had this. He would get urine infections frequently - for ages I didn't realise, I just knew he was grouchy and spiking a temp. In the end he had his foreskin stretched under general anaesthetic. It solved it.

DS had this and was circumcised on the NHS.

BUT their criteria for doing so is really strict, they’ll only do it if it is causing problems, infections etc.

Ah thank you everyone. Hr did get a few Willy infections when younger and they said he's a bit tight down there. I'll make an apt, thank you.

My son had this - dr told him to play with himself more! Might just be worth suggesting to him that he pulls the foreskin back and forth if he can to stretch it - if he cant do this then might need a small medical procedure.

My DS has this too. He was referred to a consultant who gave him a steroid cream to help thin the foreskin a little and also told him to pull it back gently every day - ideally in the bath or shower. That fixed the problem for him.
