Teething?

My 21 months old DS has been literally screaming in pain for the last two nights.

Everything suggests it's teething - biting everything, finger in his mouth, drooling etc.

But for his other teeth he has cried and grumbled but never screamed like that...is it normal or should I get him checked?

It's always worth getting your child checked out if you suspect an ear infection, for example, or something more serious, but I would say that my elder daughter was almost hysterical while her back molars were coming through, when previously her teeth had popped through with barely a whinge from her.

I thought the same...

On the other hand, has been prescribed antibiotics for tonsillitis/throat infections four times this winter so he's constantly coughing/ having a runny nose but has never had ear infections!

It's my only child so don't have comparing standards to judge how bad teething can be and when there is something else underlying?
