My daughter is 8 and she's had very bad eczema since she was 2weeks old, iv basically had every cream and steroid based creams going, she's had scrapings taken too.. nothing is helping.. she has antihistamines to take every day, is there anything I can try to help her? She's covered in eczema from her neck down it's even in her ears too.. she can't bath as her skin drys so quickly (strange I know) so she showers only.. a friend said I should try tcp oil but I'm very unsure about it. Any tips on what I can do to help her skin would be great fully appreciated.

Have you checked that it's not partly food related? My SIL has horrendous eczema still in her mid 20s - she's tried everything going - but she also has an allergy to egg that exacerbates it.

For my son we use double base gel, and every so often have to go for a bout of steroid cream. A lot of the creams offered for eczema have - argh, I can't remember exactly - I think it's lanolin or similar. A lot of shower gels etc - even though they claim to be sensitive - also have this, which can actually continue to dry the skin out. It might be worth seeing a specialist, as your average GP may be continuing to prescribe creams that are actually hindering rather than helping.

Find out what's causing it. This was me at 8 - I was allergic to a whole host of things inc cows milk and citrus fruit. By 11, with a change of diet, I was eczema-free .

I take it you have had a referral to consultant? have you had tests for environmental allergies? dust mite is very common cause of eczema.

and what is your current eczema management routine?

I used to use goats milk soap when dd8 was younger and hers was really bad.
