3week old Reflux?

DS is 3weeks old and last week was diagnosed with reflux. Well more the GP agreed it’s reflux and prescribed gaviscon. Which works somewhat, the bottle it’s in stays down more. He’s been getting comfort milk as we noticed it was much worse on regular aptamil. Would it be worth switching to reflux milk? I don’t like the idea of all the sodium from gaviscon or medication unless it’s needed. He’s 6lb and taking 2-4oz feeds either every 3hours on a good gaviscony day or every 1.5-2hours max without. Using Mam bottles as he struggled to “latch” onto the tommee tippee’s. Had considered Dr Browns but he doesn’t guzzle feeds he more or less grazes his way through the day/night

Stick with the bottles you have: lots of reflux babies use Mam.

I’m a bit “meh” about medication: the risk of damage due to reflux is a lot worse than anything in the medication! If it’s working I would stick to it. You could use normal formula and use carobel thickener instead of gaviscon: I would be wary of adding anything extra to reflux formula unless under the guidance of a Dr as they are already thickened I believe.

Are you doing the basics like gently rubbing babies back to wind, feeding as upright as possibly, keeping upright for 20-30 minutes after a feed, tilting the head of the cot, babywearing etc
