DC has vomited two nights running (lots of vomit on Weds night, once last night). Off food since Tuesday/ Weds. Felt hot last night but thermometer not working properly so don't have an exact reading. Still off food and complains of stomach ache today although she's not always good at describing her symptoms.

Probably the daftest question in the world, but does this sound like a stomach bug of some kind or something else? Sorry, DC has never been prone to vomiting so I have no idea!

It sounds exactly like a stomach bug. Hopefully your DD is over the worst of it now, although her tummy will probably be delicate for a few days and she may still get diarrhoea as that usually comes after the vomiting.

Encourage her to drink (little and often) but don't worry about food until she's hungry - then little at a time.

You need to keep her at home until at least 48 hours after the last episode of v or d.

I hope she's better soon and doesn't share with you!

Thank you! I probably sound like a complete idiot but we've never done a tummy bug before!

As pp said it does sound exactly like a tummy bug. Be careful giving diary products in the first 48hrs after she starts eating again as it can cause a relapse in some children, their tummies are super sensitive after a bug, plain foods for a day or two.
