What am I doing wrong? Stomach bug

Any advice appreciated.
12 days ago DS2 comes down with stomach bug.
Ever since DC1 and DC2 have had diorrhea however the vomiting has been happening roughly 4 days apart but seeming fine between and like they're getting better. I'm at my wits end! Are they reinfecting each other? I've bleached, washed duvets and cushions, aired the house etc it's like I just think they are over it and they start vomiting again and worse than the previous times! Sorry for bad grammar had about 2 hours sleep!

Technically, you shouldn't be able to catch the same strain of virus once you've been down with it.

What are they doing and eating in between?

MummyDummyNow · 10/04/2019 09:35

I think there's a weird bug doing the rounds. We (me, DH and two DDs) All has stomach cramps and diarrhoea got better now 3 days later me and children have it again. Thought we were better. Totally rotten.

Could it be good poisoning? Ring the GP for advice - they might want samples for testing.

Flibbertyjib · 10/04/2019 09:42

Yes I spoke to gp yesterday he said if they have another diarrhoea then I need to take a sample in. However my youngest hasn't had one since and the eldest is now vomiting again. I'm going to ring again and see if they take samples of that instead.
I took them both off dairy now completely yesterday he was fine running around etc he had toast with a small amount of jam, some oat milk, rich tea biscuits all day then at dinner fish fingers with beans. The youngest I'm just giving toast, water and bananas. Neither will drink dioralyte so having to stick to water.

We have a similar issue with DD 3. She is usually perfectly healthy and robust. Was sick Sunday eve out of blue twice. Then again Monday evening. Fever and extreme lethargy Monday and Tuesday. No fever Wednesday and seemed brighter and improving, although barely touching food. But then just been sick again in night (Wednesday.) Really odd as her siblings haven't had symptoms. Also has cough with it. Anyone else with something similar? Thanks

On a few occasions when my son has had the dreaded bug and it was on and off for a week. He would have quite a big bout of sickness on day 1.. then he seemed to get better. Then he would be sick once again a few days later than again a couple days after that and on and off diarrhoea. So it lasted a week or so and he seemed between between the sickness. It was odd.

Last year I had a bug. I was sick a few times in day 1 but didn’t seem too bad. Then 4 or 5 days after that I got awful sickness and diarrhoea. I assume it was the same bug taking a while to leave my system. 🤷‍♀️ I felt fine in between too.

Thanks yes sounds similar to yours Meredith. He woke today with a temp of 39 after a pretty good night of no being sick and a lot of fluids. Then he's nibbled a bit of toast and banana today and wanted to sit downstairs I knew he didn't look right - still very lethargic but he just threw up again now. Thankfully my 2 year old seems fine now so I'm hoping that's it for him. It's just such a weird virus! Awaiting the results of the stool sample to see what's causing it! had such a lovely time catching explosive diorrhea in the world's smallest plastic pot though!
