Sleepy DS (3)

My DS (3 yo) has been really ill recently. He ended up at A&E and was prescribed antibiotics for a nasty bout of tonsillitis and conjunctivitis - he also has a cough.

He has been on the antibiotics since Friday night, his temp has come down, but he's still extremely sleepy, not eating an awful lot and just run down. He is still weeing fine and drinking lots, but he is sleeping 14-16 hours a day.

Is this normal? I know it has only been a few days but it feels like forever when he isn't back to his usual self.

I would book a gp appointment to discuss tomorrow but phone 111 if you are worried about him overnight

14-16 hours a day is quite a lot, unless of course he's normally a great sleeper who sleeps about 12 or 13 hours a night anyway and this is maybe only an extra 1 or 2 for him personally then that could be OK as he'll be catching up. I'm currently recovering from severe tonsillitis myself where I was hospitalised and put on a drip and tbh I am completely exhausted and this is a week later!
