My ds was a bit off colour last week and over the last few days has had some itchy spots on his body. Two appeared at the side of his tummy, two on his back, there are about three on his upper legs. He’s not broken out all over his body so I’m unsure if this is chicken pox, could anyone advise me if this is how it begins? Is it possible to have it but just a few spots?

He’s had hand foot and mouth last year and it’s definitely not that. From my memory of chicken pox the spots do look like them. I’m not sure whether I should tell his school.

Could be.
From experience it often starts on chest / cal and pretty quickly the spots are textbook chickenpox spots - google images.

It may just be a mild dose so yes it is possible to only have a few spots.

If you do think it’s chickenpox you should’t send him to school until they are scanned over.
And this will be obvious. You would expect blisters first which do then scab over
