Any ideas what this skin rash is?

DD has had it for about 8 weeks and it is on two separate patches. She was prescribed anti fungal cream for ringworm about 4 weeks ago and it is having no effect at all and two more patches are appearing.

Any ideas what this skin rash is?

Where are the patches? Looks almost shingles like but that doesnt last as long as that.

Three on her torso and one just starting under her armpit.

Are they all on the same side?

123Holly · 11/03/2019 20:33

Apart from the one under the armpit, they are on the front over her rib cage but on both sides. For the first few weeks I just put moisturiser on, then the fungal cream. At a bit of a loss.

Sebhorric dermatitis maybe? Not commonly known but can effect trunk not just head

Has she had chicken pox?

123Holly · 11/03/2019 21:14

Yes she had chicken pox a couple of years ago.

My almost 2 year old had this exact same rash for almost a year. Just under her armpit and then another from the same armpit towards the middle of her back.
We were given excema creams galore, anti-fungals too. In the end it just went of its own accord. It has left the skin where it was noticeably lighter though.

YouBoggleMyMind · 11/03/2019 21:23

Is it sore/painful? Just looks like the beginnings of shingles but it may not be if it's not sore.

123Holly · 11/03/2019 21:28

No it’s not bothering her at all.
Although my two nephews have come out in chicken pox the last few days, so maybe if it is shingles she could have passed the pox onto them?

Hello what happened eventually ..to the rash.i have the exact same one and it has spread all over my ribcage ..no cream has cured it

You can't catch shingles from chicken pox. But you have to have had chicken pox to get shingles. It lies dormant in the body and flares up when the immune system goes down. Common in children. If its all along the same nerve line it might be shingles but doesn't strike me as that to be honest. I'd get the GP to take another look of the cream hasn't worked. At first glance I'd say ringworm but could be dermatitis. Have you changed washing powders recently or soaps etc?
