Lump in neck, fever and vomiting

Hello, just wondering if anyone has experienced this?

My daughter (5 years old) noticed a lump on her neck on Wednesday, it’s quite soft and it will move slightly, about the size of my little finger tip and visible inflammation around it. I booked a routine appointment, then as it seemed to be bothering her more on Friday I took her to the doctor. He felt more on the other side, checked and found she had a temperature of 40, checked ears/throat etc. and suggested viral infection.

We haven’t managed to get her temp lower than 38 since Friday, her eyes have been really bloodshot and she’s been complaining of a headache. Last night she also vomited twice. Does this sound like a reaction to a virus or should I be taking her back to the doctors today?

Since she started school in sept she’s had one really nasty virus with a vomiting episode and a separate vomiting episode two weeks ago so I’m a little concerned about her weight at the moment.
