Tonsillitis?

My 4 year old has a sore throat this morning and a slight fever (nothing to be concerned about)
He has some visible white spots on his tonsils and swollen.
He had a bit of a cough when he got up but nothing too bad and no cough since.
Doesn’t have a cold.

Wondering if this could be the beginnings of tonsillitis? He’s not poorly enough at the moment to phone 111.

When my eldest has had tonsillitis it’s came out of the blue like this but her temp has been a lot higher (his is under 38). One minute she’s jumping around and the next she says she has a sore throat and her temp is over 39!!

Although he did have a similar temp when he had scarlet fever.......

Hello,
Make sure he gets plenty of fluids and keep an eye on him. If you are concerned at any point, don't hesitate to contact 111.

Thanks Susan

He has been drinking a lot although not eating much.
Not too bad at moment even though tonsils more swollen. Will see in the morning and phone 111 if needed.
They probably know us by now as my kids always prefer weekend to be ill 🙈

Hoping to avoid ab’s if we can as he had a Staph infection a couple of weeks ago so was treated for that

Hello, sorry for the late reply, how's your son doing now?

Random18 · 11/03/2019 18:19

Thanks for asking!
He’s been a star. We did end up going to OOH’s as he was feeling quite sorry for himself yesterday morning and temp had went up and sore tummy. We did manage to control it well with pain relief.
Got some ab’s and on the mend today.
