Long time lump on neck

HoptoitDufflepuds · 15/02/2019 23:53

DS has a lump in his neck, right side. It's always there but sometimes it's more noticeable than others. At the moment it's large and noticeable.

Am I neurotic to take him to the gp about it because I'm pretty sure it's just a raised gland. But by the same token, it wouldn't always be present, would it?

It's probably just a lumpy gland. But take him to the doctor if you're worried. If they're concerned they'll probably send him for blood tests and possibly a biopsy.

I think you should take him, even if just to reassure you both. Could well be a raised lymph node or cyst - both harmless I believe?

Could be a branchial cleft cyst. Worth getting it looked at.

This looks like a harmless sebaceous cyst, my son also had one in his neck. If it moves under the skin if you gently push it to the side it likely is. If you visit the GP they will check if it moves or is anchored and they will shine a pen light to see if it’s transparebt, very simple and straightforward common check they do 😊

Thanks for the replies. It definitely moves as the little monkey keeps playing with it 🤢.

I've got to book him a meds review so I will make sure to mention it then.
