Absence Seizures

My son has not been diagnosed but from what has been going on, and googling I have concluded he is most probably having absence seizures.
He told me sometime ago that he sometimes goes into a blank and is a bit like an onlooker as to what is going on around him. He says he does not move and zones out. He says it happens several times a day and more often in bed at night. I took him to the doctor about a year ago when he first started talking about it and was pretty much fobbed off. I didn't take it any further because it didn't seem to be too much of a problem for my son. I started to notice be sometimes doesn't seem to be with it for brief periods but really only for a matter of seconds. Now he is also complaining of mildly feeling dizzy, sick and headachey in the morning and of feeling dizzy when still standing for any length of time. The two things may not be related ie. the dizziness and absence seizures.
I have taken him to the doctor who has suggested blood tests.
I would like to hear from anyone else who might know more about absence seizures and their impact on a child and weather headaches and vertigo like symptoms are related to this?
My son seems to be developing normally although he is challenged by short term memory.

Sounds like you need to be referred to a paediatric neurologist. Don't let the GP fob you off with blood tests
