Losec MUPS

Morning all!
Little one has been on losec mups for a while now, he’s 13 months old. I have to wake him in the night to give it to him, mixed in with a bit of pear. I was told that it has to be taken two hours after food/milk and/or 30 minutes before food/milk. This is why I have to wake him, because he has three meals a day and snacks so it’s difficult making sure it’s two hours after food and half hour before. Waking him is the only way.
As he’s getting older it’s getting more difficult to get him back off to sleep after his tablet.
I’d like to know what the deal is taking losec mups please? I’ve read so many different things, some saying it can be taken with food, some saying the above mentioned.
Tried weaning him off it twice but he’s not ready yet.
Please help!

In hospital we give it normally the morning and don't worry about when they're eating. It still works with food in the stomach so I'd just let him sleep and give him it when he wakes up! Lots of small babies are on it who feed regularly throughout the day and night so getting those times right would be impossible!

Thank you so much for your reply, I really do appreciate it! Flowers Will it matter if he has his neocate milk or oatly milk within half an hour of it do you know please?

I usually say to take it in the morning, and not to worry to much about what they're eating. Well, given the slightly older ones are mostly having it in yoghurt/applesauce/chocolate mousse etc...

I'd have no problem with neocate or oatly 1/2 hr after. (Please note, refers to my own patients with CMPI/A and reflux, haven't actually seen your child)

Thank you for your help. So just to confirm, he’s had cereal with oatly this morning, I’d be able to give him the losec and it would still work or do I have to wait as it’s ‘milk’? It doesn’t matter if it’s taken with food, and it doesn’t matter what food it is whether it’s dairy or not?
I’m confusing myself more now!

I’m just thinking if I give it first thing in the morning he won’t want to wait half an hour for his breakfast cereal.

My DD (3 1/2 years) has been I. This since she was 16 weeks old and we've always just given it in the morning.

I gave it to my son first thing as soon as he woke up. Then waited 20 mins before giving first milk of the day.

I have lots of advice for preparing LOSEC, so let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you! I think I’m going to give it to him once he’s finished his tea with his fruit. That’ll give him time to have a play, then bath time and bedtime milk. When he wakes in the morning he’s like me, wants food/milk straight away! No chance he’d wait Grin
