Toddler - blood tests for Leukemia

Hi all,

My 16 month old has been unwell for a few months, mostly based around recurrent fevers.

Doctors agreed blood tests yesterday, which were taken at 11am at the drop in blood taking unit at hospital. One of the things they are potentially looking at is Leukemia.

It's been 24 hours since the blood was taken and we've not heard anything. I'm assuming that that's good news? As if it was Leukemia or another nasty then they would've got in touch straight away?

Any experiences welcome

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry I have no advice for you, I just wanted to say I'm sorry your going through this, and I hope you get the results that your wants. On a positive note a good friend of mines boy had leukemia at the same age, he is now a bouncy happy 12yr old boy who has been cancer free for about 8 years. Xx

No idea but they can do a white cell count in less than an hour. Perhaps it's gone for further tests? Not to worry though you get a high white cell count if you have a cold or infection or have recently had one. I had a very high count once, freaked me out but it was fine
