Has anyone's child been diagnosed with this? My son was diagnosed nearly 2 months ago and we are still visiting hospital weekly/bi-weekly as it appears his kidney function has not returned to normal. Just wondered what other people's experiences have been. Thank you.

Ds had this after a bad virus. He was admitted to our local hospital and then transferred to a London hospital as his blood pressure (side effect of impaired kidney function) was dangerously high. He was in hospital for a week until they could get his blood pressure down and on medication for a couple of months. His kidney function took 2 - 3 months to completely return to normal. He is absolutely fine now although has had a couple of less severe relapses. He also has to be careful to avoid dehydration and feels effects of dehydration more quickly and severely than before. Majority of children recover completely with no lasting effects so your ds should be fine eventually!

Apologies I've only just seen your response. We had some good news yesterday. The hospital ordered lots of extra tests as they were talking about him having a biopsy, however they're now happy with his results and have said they don't want to see us now for another month. It's such a strange condition I'd never heard of it before.
