Ds is almost 8 months. Breastfed, and is eating solids (a mixture or puréed veg and finger foods). Tonight he had stories, then bath, then feed to sleep. He has woken every half an hour, and has been coughing a bit (I thought maybe he had caught a cold). Just now, he coughed a bit and then seemed to hold his breath for a few seconds and proceeded to violently vomit everywhere. He's asleep on me now but it's really freaked me out and his breathing sounds a bit laboured.
I considered calling 111 but I have been overly anxious in the past and didn't want a repeat of doctors telling me that I've been paranoid.

Any advice or know why this might be?

I'd call 111 simply because of the labored breathing - you can never be too careful with that and it's one of the big things our doctor says to always call about. The coughing may have triggered the throwing up, but there's no harm in calling. Hope he feels better soon Thanks

He may have flu or another sickness bug. I would see how he gets on overnight and make sure he doesn’t become dehydrated. If the sickness continues or he develops a rash or fever then call the docs straight away

Hi, i just wanted to update you. Took ds to the GP this morning following a very unsettled night, ds has a nasty ear infection and has been prescribed antibiotics. I think that explains the vomiting and uncomfortableness. Thank you for your advice Thanks definitely glad I went in the morning. :)
