Chronic Era Infections/Obstructive Sleep Apnea

hello everyone, I'm not entirely sure this is the right forum but I don't really know where else go with my question. My son is 8.5 months and has pretty much had a constant ear infection (only right ear) with perforated ear drum since start of September.

He's had every antibiotic multiple times and is on a low dose trimpethoprim for 3 months also. We are waiting for a sleep study for suspected OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) as a result. He is SO unwell with these infections as I'm sure many of you can imagine.... I'm constantly pumping him with painkillers and various antibiotics which just makes us feel horrible, and we have a 2.5 year old too so everyone is just suffering, not to mention my poor baby who is is so much pain and feverish constantly.

Just reaching out to anyone who might have been through something similar, how much more will they make him try before they take the bloody adenoids and tonsils out? He's so young and has been poorly for over half his life already! Any advice appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Just to add that I am also bf him, and because he's so unwell, he doesn't eat solids very well. He's a big boy and it's driving me in to the ground keeping up with him in this respect. It's also his only real comfort so I am doing this a lot in the night also.

Has the gp referred you to ENT at your local hospital? If not I would ask immediately for a referral. My son is on the waiting list to have adenoids removed since June last year but he's 4yrs old. My son had 7 ear infections in 6 months before he was referred and we waited 4 months to see the ENT consultant who was the one who decided he needed his adenoids out as he also suffers from sleep apnoea.

Thanks for replying.

Yes we are under ENT. We went back for a second time today as the low dose antibiotic clearly isn't working as he's still suffering new infections while on them! They have now given some drops to try and will see us again next week as I really pushed for us to be seen sooner as he's so so young.
That is a very long wait isn't it. We do have private health care so I'm wondering whether to just go that route instead, we are really struggling.
I hope your little boy gets sorted soon.
