My ds aged 3 has had a slight cold and nasty cough but no temp and came home from nursery yesterday with a few spots on his torso. More have appeared overnight but he’s not got more than say 15 and had chicken pox badly when he was 1. What do you think?

Any ideas anyone? Shall I go to the pharmacist and ask?

Does look chicken poxy and you can have it more than once, so it's possible.

lovewatchingrainfall · 04/01/2019 09:11

I would say either chicken pox again or hand foot and mouth (yes you don't always have to have it on your hand foot or in your mouth) I would get checked out.

WrapAndRoll · 04/01/2019 09:12

It does look like chicken pox. Are they itchy? Insect bites?

cindersrella · 04/01/2019 09:13

Looks like the chicken pox 🥴

It could be a post viral rash, mine seem to get it quite frequently. It is unlikely to be chicken pox again if he had it badly. People think they have it again but it only happens if: The person had a mild dose, they were a baby (under 1) when they first had it, they have immune system problems. Viral rashes are often misdiagnosed as chicken pox, even by health care professionals.

Thanks for the replies - the GP wants to see us as I also have a six week old baby who has felt warm and started with a cough and sneezing too. Just waiting for him to call me back with an appt.

I'd say chicken pox or maybe hand foot and mouth. Hope she feels better soon

JellycatElfie · 04/01/2019 13:22

Again? Oh sorry OP Sad

GobblersKnob · 04/01/2019 13:28

My friend also currently has chicken pox for the second time. I wonder if there is an unusual mutation going around?

I hope he's on the mend quickly op :)

JellycatElfie · 04/01/2019 13:32

Thanks Sad if 6 week old baby gets a temp or spots I’ve to take him straight to accident and emergency Sad

DS2 who had chicken pox badly at just under one caught it again when he was about three. The first time around the hospital did warn us that as he needed intravenous acylovir to treat it, he may not have full immunity.

Second time round it was much less serious though. I hope he recovers soon and your baby doesn't get it.
