Dentist Worries

Alright, my oldest Thomas is going to the dentist tomorrow. He is howling and crying because he has a pain in his tooth and he thinks he'll get a giant drill in his tooth and it'll hurt loads. I don't know what to say as I've always had perfect teeth and don't want to worry him. He is screaming things like, "I'm going to hurt so bad!" And "The dentist will hurt me so bad and drill my tooth!".
Help I need to sleep! When he isn't screaming, my baby is! Oh woe!

What age is he? Has he had pain relief?

Just reassure him that the dentist is not scary.
Too many people exaggerate about the dentist and then this negative story is all people hear.
We go every 6 months and there has been no tears.
How old is he?
Does he need pain relief now and promise him some before the dentist visit
Good luck

He's 5, which is quite surprising as our whole family either never had worries or ended at 3-4. I reassured him, it didn't work and he needed a filling. Sad
