7 year old temp and headache

Hello we are away at the moment and my 7 year old woke up this morning saying dizzy and headache and felt a bit hot. Was herself in all other regards and wanted to do some of the things we had planned today so was not unduly concerned. Gave ibuprofen which didn’t have any effect (she normally has capol but couldn’t get any first thing) but she was drinking lots although not really hungry. Got back to apartment and she went to sleep )which she never does) but woke up again saying she felt worse. Ibuprofen again didn’t touch it. Called nhs who didn’t seem unduly concerned but said could take her into hospital but could be a 6 hour wait. She just wants to go to bed but don’t know what to do. All the usual meningitis signs are not there and done all usual checks. She has smelly breath but no sore throat. Also a couple of days ago complained it hurt when she had a wee bit have been monitoring that and not complained for a few days. Has now had capol which seems to have helped although still a bit hot. Don’t know whether to put her to bed to rest or drive the hour to the nearest hospital and wait for 6 hours to be seen. Any thoughts? She was also up for New Years eve so could be delayed tiredness etc from that.

Oh god. It’s always when you are away isn’t it!! If the drugs aren’t bringing her temp down I would err on side of caution. Could well be wee infection. I’d phone and see if you can get ooh Gp.

Thanks my worry is whether to
Let her sleep tonight and get her somewhere tomorrow or to do the emergency thing tonight but they have already said will be 6 hour wait and hospital
An hour away. Feel cruel dragging her out x

If she’s asleep and not too hot, I’d probably leave her but be ready to drive when she wakes up? Bag, charger, etc.

THe headache etc is likely to be down to the fever and its probably a virus but are you able to keep down the fever with the meds - if it is coming down and staying down I would let her sleep. If you cant control the temp I would go somewhere

Thanks. She is sleeping and has had water so think I will let her sleep and just stay next to her. Temp has come down slightly but she still feels hot (have no thermometer though). Such a worry to know what best to do but I don’t think dragging her out for hours in middle of night seems best thing to do xxx
