Little one has a cold

Does anyone have any advice on a cold for a baby he is 8 and a half months iv gave him calpol and baby cough syrup the pharmacist said they are fine to be given together but he his still coughing a lot and has a runny nose giving him a very disturbing sleep

I think you're doing all you can do for a cold. There's some advice here but it sounds like it's just a case of waiting for the cold to pass now.

Get some snuffle babe ( baby vics ) and put that on his chest and back when he goes to bed, get some saline drops to put im his nose before bed and before feeds and you can also get a plug in diffuser that has a decongestant cartridge ( made by calpol, in the baby medicine section in boots etc )

Thanks everyone I tried getting snuffle babe yesterday but Tesco and ASDA had none I do have adult Olbas oil I know I cannot give him this as it is too strong for him would I be ok to heat a pan of water on the hob and put a few drops in and pop it in the same room as him before bed when he is at his worst

You can use lobes oil on a napkin or handkerchief and put it in the room or use it in a jug of hot water. Same with Vicks. Don’t put either directly on the baby though.
Slightly raising the cot end so he is a little more upright sometimes helps with the post nasal drip and blocked nose.
Otherwise sit it out.
Cough syrups don’t actually do anything useful but Calpol is good if he has a raised temperature or is distressed.
