Toddler with ingrown toenail

21 month old DD has always had thin toenails and earlier today I noticed that one of her big toes looked a bit red and sore on one side. On closer inspection, it looks like the toenail might be a bit ingrown.

It doesn’t appear to be bothering her, but obviously I don’t want it to get worse, especially with the Christmas period coming up. If I could get her to soak her feet in warm salt water, might that help?

If it's sore she might seriously object, I currently have two infected ingrown nails so I know. Warm water is very soothing though. I know it doesn't help now but get it treated in the new year! Ive had this for 25 years.

Thanks, BrylcreamBeret. DH put a tiny bit of Sudocrem on it after her bath and the only reaction we got was giggling because she is extremely ticklish. I have tried very gently touching her toe and it doesn’t seem to bother her at all. Will keep an eye on it and take her to GP/nurse in the new year to get it looked at,

Don’t cut toe nails anything but straight across, this will help avoid getting them in the future. Don’t cut after a bath as they are soft and more likely to tear, leaving jaggedly edges which grown in.

Soak feet now, use artisan cream, google how to pack a little cotton wool under nail

Antisan not artisan sorry
