My 8 y/o DD needs to have surgery within the next few weeks.
She is utterly convinced she will die during the operation
I’ve had a quick google but cannot find anything so I thought you guys may be able to help me.

Are there any children’s books aimed at children needing surgery?

Not a book suggestion, sorry, but my dd has had to have numerous operations and hospital stays, she has asd too and gets extremely anxious.
The best thing to do would to speak to the consultants receptionist, or ward she is staying in, many hospitals will let you have a ‘pre op’ assessment, where they can go around the hospital, see where they will be taken, meet the anaesthetists and have everything explained in a calm manner. My dd sees play specialists often too, but hers says that they often see children for a one off operation who are extremely anxious, they have puppets and they help children understand through play, it really is amazing and id definitely look into this for your dd. There should be a number on your letter you can call with any questions and hopefully they can arrange something.
Wishing you both lots of luck Flowers

Thank you
I will bring it up at her initial consultation. It’s so hard as she has slight anxiety which unfortunately I think she gets from me
Although I’m not anxious of hospitals
