My 5 month old has woken up with what looks like a tiny (a few mm long) red thread dangling from the inner corner of her eye onto the skin beneath. I've tried to wipe it away with wet cotton wool but it didn't move and I'm disinclined to try any more firmly. She's got a bit of a runny nose too and was sick early this morning but seems fine in herself and I'm not convinced it's connected to the eye thing. The eye itself looks fine, no redness and she's not rubbing it or showing any discomfort. Any idea what the red thread could be? I'm in two minds as to whether to take her to the doctor as she seems fine.
