My son has a spot on his eyelid, has had it a few days. Have held a warm cloth to it but anything else?? He says it hurts and his vision gets blurry?

Worth a gp/chemist visit?? Or continue treating at home??

You're better off going to an optician than a gp or pharmacy with that. Warm compress is a reasonable course of action but maybe see an optometrist too.

wildewillow · 25/11/2018 21:07

Opticians deal with eyeballs not eyelids and skin!
My first port of call would be a pharmacist in the morning op.

Fayrazzled · 25/11/2018 21:11

Given its proximity to the eye, I'd book to see the GP- especially as your son says it is making his vision blurry.

FreezerBird · 25/11/2018 21:25

If it's affecting his vision, I'd go for optometrist. They do know about lids and skin.

Baconbutties · 25/11/2018 21:26

Yes I’d go to dr too It’s might be nothing or it might be something like ocular herpes. It’s the cold sore virus but in the eye and can cause blurred vision and spots like that and needs an antiviral that’s only on prescription.hope it’s better soon

JugheadismyHero · 27/11/2018 11:35

So we saw a pharmacist, who sent us to gp. We saw two nurses and they said it's blepharitis. But having read the info they gave me I'm not sure..

He might have a bit of blepharitis as well - the picture isn't magnified enough for me to see, but the lump just looks like a chalazion. It needs checking out properly though. Just go and have an eye test, if its affecting his vision it is covered under the NHS even if he's had another eye test recently.

svengoren10 · 27/11/2018 14:44

My son has blepharitis but it's more along the eyelash line which gets red and a bit crusty. He also gets styes/chalazions when he's really tired or poorly. Does look more like it could be that...

FreezerBird · 27/11/2018 16:22

Honestly, go to an optician! If you call and explain they will try to fit you in same day.

JugheadismyHero · 06/12/2018 22:19

Ok so it's been a few days na she's got another 😩

He now says it only affects his vision if he looks upwards, like really upwards without moving your head. So it doesn't really. They just hurt. Cooled boiled water on clean flannels doesn't really help.

Worth another visit to gp??

I'd defo be heading back to the GP for that. Good luck!

JugheadismyHero · 09/12/2018 11:54

Well GP said continue with bathing with hot compress. Is it meant to get worse before it gets better??

That looks like a meibomian cyst

JustWingingLifeAsUsual · 09/12/2018 16:38

Known as Chalazion

JugheadismyHero · 10/12/2018 16:15

He needs to go back to the GP! Poor thing :( but it does look like what I've just said below.

JugheadismyHero · 11/12/2018 10:26

Went to doctor this morning, just told to bathe it.

Confirmed it's a chalazion
