I think that sport at school for most kids is completely pointless.

If you are really good, and get to play on a team great.
If you really are not sporty (and some aren't - it's not laziness, they just aren't!) they get ignored, ridiculed and patronised. This has the ongoing implication of putting them off trying anything else for life.

There is not enough time at school for teachers to really coach those with less ability.

I think 'sport' at school should be fun. Let the kids choose their own activities a bit more. Have choices that will allow them to keep healthy and active rather than sport.
