Urgent referral - how long?

For those of you whose child has had an urgent (but non-cancer) referral to a specialist, how long did it take to see that specialist?

I was hoping within about two weeks, but the hospital booking line said it could take up to eight.

I think this is a 'how long is a piece of string?' question. Every authority will be different and every service is different. CAMHS, for example is desperately underfunded and unlikely to see young people for a long, long time Angry. Other specialists all have waiting lists of varying lengths.
