Flavour alternative to strawberry Calpol

Hello,

After a bit of a fraught night in hospital with my 9-month-old because of a fever and dehydration (we're home and he is much better), I'm in desperate need of baby paracetamol that isn't Calpol or strawberry-flavoured.
My son just spits it out and won't take it mixed in with yoghurt etc.
Ibuprofen is no an option as he has a kidney condition.
Can anyone help?

Poundland do a cherry one and I think Lloyds pharmacy do an orange one.

HeyThoughIWalk · 19/11/2018 11:57

Tesco and Boots do own-brand ones- I think we've had cherry flavour from Tesco before, and I'm pretty sure we had an orange one as well.

Docs could maybe prescribe suppository paracetamol? I know in other countries that is the default administration method for children. Maybe worth asking.

NearlySchoolTimeAgain · 19/11/2018 12:15

We use suppositories. It’s helpful to be shown the best way to insert them though.

MrsJayy · 19/11/2018 12:15

Boots own used to taste like orange do you scoosh it down the side of his cheek then can't spit it out

practicallyperfectmummy · 19/11/2018 12:16

Sainsbury's own brand is orange and very cheap. Hope you find something op

Toddlerteaplease · 19/11/2018 12:17

I wish the manufacturers of Calpol wouldn't make it pink. Causes problems with kids who will only take pink medication! (Mixing with Ribena does occasionally fool them though!)

MrsJayy · 19/11/2018 12:19

Ah maybe I am thinking sainsbury is orange been many years since we used medicine

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 19/11/2018 12:20

We've always used suppositories

katek82 · 19/11/2018 14:53

Thank you all for your supplies! Every time I've asked for any alternative flavours at the chemist I've never had any success- will try the shops mentioned and ask GP about suppositories too, good tip! X

Quick update in case anyone finds this thread in future: Lloyds Pharmacy does a cherry flavour!

Calpol themselves do an orange one. The dc themselves say it's revolting.

GoneForFood · 24/11/2018 19:16

I think the orange flavoured calpol is the 6+ isn’t it?

Witchend · 24/11/2018 19:28

Oh, yes, you're right. You can get it in either flavour at 6+.

TheMonaOgg · 25/11/2018 18:57

Tesco own brand one tastes like cherry bakewell.
