When and how were they diagnosed? My ds is almost 3 and has just come out of hospital after going in with a wheeze which started as a cold. This is the fourth time he has been admitted with a wheeze and I find myself getting scared every time he has a cold now. This is complicated by the fact he has a heart condition which is triggered by illness. They say he's too young to diagnose asthma so wondering when or how it will be diagnosed. He is always given a nebuliser and salbutamol inhaler while he is there and to take home although this also triggers heart problems so we have to be careful with it.

My dc was 7 when eventually diagnosed. They coughed pretty much all winter when they were little, had bronchiolistis etc but was always told it’s too early to diagnose. I think what finally triggered the diagnosis was taking them to the asthma nurse when they had a cold & the weather was changing (always a trigger) and their peak flow was horrifyingly low!
