Hi my little boy started reception in September and since they he has just had a almost constant cough and cold it might improve slightly but then returns. It once went to a ear infection and he had antibiotics for that. Hrs had a few days off school which I'm not worried about but he's started with it again this weekend. Because of the cough he doesn't sleep properly and we have disturbed nights. Plus I keep catching things I've just finished a ten day course of antibiotics as I got tonsilitis. His diet is pretty good though could be improved, he takes a multivitamin and I don't know what to do this must be the sixth time a he's caught it we are exhausted so any ideas greatly appreciated.

Reception is a breeding ground for every bug going. It can take a few months for their immune system to build up.
Try tilting his mattereds slightly so he isn’t completely flat, this can help with the cough.

Healthy diet.
Multi vitamins
Manuka honey
Probiotics
Fresh Air

Last but not least and something that is most important is hand washing.

Those little hands encounter so many germs throughout the day and I dread to think what's on them at the end of the school day.

Wash hands. Repeat times 50 times.

I'm afraid children will have an average of 10 viral illnesses a year!

Nothing you can do. My son started nursery over a year ago and was constantly getting ill, he had HFM twice too. It's just how it is! Calpol/ibuprofen, cuddles and sleep is what they need.
